I'm in search of a new stomping ground. I've been a member at JavaRanch for 6 years and a staff member for about 4 but I'm needing to part ways and I'm looking for a new community to be a part of and help if I can. I know about Sun's forums and Javalobby's forums but I'm not too impressed with either community. JavaRanch is full of really nice folks and I'm looking for something similar. Any suggestions?

Why would you part ways with JavaRanch, which I find a very helpful site? Unless there is a specific personal reason for the departure it seems like you can extend yourself into another community without totally abandoning the other. In my view (still forming :)), blogging is the next "community" and you've already joined. Start adding a few people to your blogroll that you like to read and your semantic community will start.
I can discuss this with your privately if you would like but suffice it to say there were some differences of opinions that I felt very strongly about. I've since decided to get past that and I've gone back to contributing to JavaRanch. I wouldn't go as far to say that all is well, but I'm choosing to ignore specific aspects of the community. Specifically within the staff so that I can continue to contribute and help.
In the spirit of community, I'm glad things are working out. I just added you to my blogroll that just started building myself.
Cool. Thanks.
